How to Brew Cold Loose Leaf Tea
Making cold brew loose tea is both easy and delicious. This process is a fantastic way to extract all the beneficial qualities from whole leaf tea. The gradual extraction method of cold brewing produces a flavorful infusion without the risk of over steeping, eliminating any bitterness. This particular approach is suitable for a variety of loose leaf teas, such as green tea, white tea, yerba mate, some oolongs, and herbals. For a quick, refreshing cup of iced tea, all you have to do is place your preferred loose leaf tea in a pitcher, add cold water, and refrigerate overnight.
Make cold brewed tea in the refrigerator with a pitcher:
- Place 2 heaping Tablespoons of loose leaf tea in a 32 oz mason jar and fill with fresh cold water.
- Steep for at least 2 hours in the fridge, or for 10-30 minutes at room temperature. (See Chart Below)
- Strain the tea leaves as you pour it into your glass or mug using a stainless steel tea strainer cup.
- Savor the cold brewed tea as it is for its concentrated taste or add ice for a chilled version.
